Team Biographies
Rikki Bowker
I started teaching first aid with my dad, John, in 2014. For me, it started out as a nice way to be involved with the family business on a part time basis while in school. It didn’t take long before this part time job redirected my focus and I switched my education plan towards nursing. Since then, I have worked to create a balance between two of my biggest passions…healthcare and education.
My goal in both settings has always been the same: to help people feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Whether it’s by holding a patient’s hand as they work to understand a new diagnosis, or by coaching a student to trust their assessments, my aim is to help people find a reliable confidence. I am excited to have the chance to carry on my father’s legacy in any way I can. We shared the same passion for this stuff- believing that it’s so much more than just a certificate, and I am proud to continue to offer training to the Peterborough and surrounding area.
Adam G ("AG")
I have been a Canadian Red Cross Certified First Aid Programs Instructor since 2010. What got me started into this passion for quality first aid instruction all started in my late teens.
At the ripe age of 16 to 19 I spent some quality time as a volunteer first aider with a local SJA Medical Brigade, training in advanced medical first response and covering such events like stock car racing, fairs, demolition derbies, triathlons, and OHL hockey games. While committing time to training and events doing this, I netted myself a successful cardiac arrest save at a young age, in a public setting on duty. At that point my fire was lit, I thought at the time, almost anyone can help increase the chances of survivability in time sensitive situations like sudden cardiac arrest with early CPR, with a session of quality training you can build confidence and help increase the survival chances for a friend, family member or a stranger.
At the age of 22 I joined a township fire department in Peterborough County, I quickly learned responding to 9-1-1 medical emergencies that many civilians would say “I wanted to help but I didn’t know what to do”. That bothered me and I wanted to help fix this problem and fill this gap, minutes matter. Shortly after I completed the Ontario Firefighter Curriculum Recruit Course, I put my time and focus on doing what I needed to do, to become a First Aid Instructor. Once I completed the needed courses, I reached out to the Owner of JBL First Aid as I knew it was a top-notch CRC training partner. I completed my co-teach with the founder of JBL (John Bowker) and at the end of the weekend class John said “AG, you have what it takes and you have what I need.” From that point on, I did not look back.
